  • “Incredibly beautiful and peaceful. It is in the middle of nature (you have to walk a little to get there) and that undoubtedly makes it more special. Dora ad Ruth’s attention made it more weloming; They treated us with a lot of love and service, and they were very accomodating. 5 stars!”

Region & Places to visit

The Sierra Nevada de Colombia is home to four indigenous tribes - the Kogi, Wiwa, Arhuaco and Kankuamo - who consider region very sacred, calling it the Heart of the World. They believe it is interconnected with global sites and must be safeguarded.

The serene nature of the area boasts diverse landscapes, from snowy peaks to lush forests and beaches, serving as a haven for over 630 bird species and various exotic animals, such as jaguars, monkey, snakes and many more.

Tayrona National Park

Within a 20-minute walk from the Finca (or 5 minutes by bus), you will reach the entrance of Tayrona National Park with its lush rainforests and pristine beaches.

Minca

The small, cozy town of Minca is located about one and a half hours by bus from the Finca passing Santa Marta. Hang out at one of the beautiful waterfalls or visit a coffee or cacao farm!

Palomino

About a one-hour bus or car ride away following the coastline, there is the beach town of Palomino with many restaurants, shops and a buzzing night life.

How to find us

Here you find a description on how to reach us, either by bus or car and how to continue to the Finca by foot. Please make sure to arrive during the daytime as finding your way in the dark, can be quite challenging!

  • If you come from the direction of Santa Marta, take local bus (a green and blue one) either from the market in the city center or the station 'Mamatoco'. Tell the bus driver that you want to get off at the stop 'Trompito - La Primera' close to Tayrona Plaza. From there you can either take a motor taxi to the Finca or walk.

  • Coming from Santa Marta, follow the main road next to Tayrona National Park towards Palomino (and vice versa). Next to the village of Trompito, you can park your car the the Tayrona Plaza (with secured parking service). If you have a 4x4, you can take the unpaved road just about 200 meters after you pass the Plaza (or before). Follow the road and cross the river. Park your car anywhere around this area and continue by foot to the Finca.

How to reach the Finca by foot

  1. Walk down the unpaved road from where the bus drops you off towards the river.

  2. Either cross directly through the river or go to the left and cross the wooden bridge (see pictures).

  3. At the other side of the river, turn left and cross the soccer field.

  4. You will reach a crossroad. Take the left path along the river (look out for the signs to the Finca).

  5. Continue on the path until you see the sign of La Finca Lorena on the right.

  6. Go up the stairs and turn left. Walk straight and pass the wooden house on the left. You are not there yet!

  7. When you reach the end of this property turn right.

  8. Continue to walk straight on the small path until you reach La Finca Lorena.

About us

In 2019 Mike, the founder of Finca La Lorena, decided that he wanted more out of his life than just getting up every morning and driving to work in his home country Switzerland.

After the tragic incident of his beloved grandmother passing away, a good friend told him to visit Colombia. Mike fell in love with the country, its people and especially the stunning nature around Tayrona National Park.

He didn’t find any hostels in the area that provided a quiet and peaceful setting to unwind. So he decided to open his own hostel.

Vision

Mike wants to provide a space where people realize that there is more to life than just going to work everyday and being stuck in the matrix. He wants to inspire people to live - to slow down, disconnect from their stressful lives and reconnect with themselves and nature.

But his vision goes beyond that. By bringing his guests back to nature, he wants enable them to recognize its beauty and demonstrate what needs to be protected urgently. Therefore, all the revenue received through guests’ stay will be reinvested into nature conservation in the Sierra Nevada.
